Diecast Ferrari
Founded in 1928 by Enzo Ferrari, the company has built some of the worlds most stunning exotic cars. Competing against the likes of Lamborghini and Porsche, a Ferrari is one of the most sought after cars in the world.![]() |
Originally when the company began in 1929, Enzo Ferrari only intended be involved in the racing business. As time progressed WWII caused serious damage to a Ferrari workshop, but it was rebuilt and the company went on to build it's first road car. The 1947 125 S was the first car ever produced by Ferrari and it included a V12 engine. Again, it was not Enzo's intention to build road cars. He only built the cars to fund is racing division. Ferrari has been very successful in Formula One, Le Mans and World Sportscar Championship racing.
Ferrari has produced exotic cars, too many to even count or mention, but a few do come to mind.
Ferrari Testarossa
Made famous by the TV series "Miami Vice", the Ferrari Testarossa was a 12 cylinder mid-engine sports car built between 1984 and 1996. In 1989 a Ferrari Testarossa sold for over $180,000.
Ferrari 308 GTS
Another TV car, the Ferrari 308 GTS was driven by Tom Selleck in the Magnum P.I. television series. Introduced in 1977 in the U.S, the car was produced to 1985 when it was replaced by the Ferrari 328. The 308 GTS was based on a prior car, the Ferrari Dino and came with a V8 engine that produced just 240 hp, which by today's standards is not overly powerful.
Ferrari F355
The Ferrari F355 was produced between 1994 and 1999 and in total, over 11,000 units were built. With so many units, this models turns out to be one of the most common Ferrari's on the road. A convertible version was also produced, called the Ferrari F355 Spider and in both, either a 6 speed automatic or 6 speed semi automatic transmission was available.
Ferrari 360
A personal favorite, the Ferrari 360 was produced for 6 years between 1999 and 2005. The 360 had an aluminum chasis making it light, yet powerful with a 3.6L V8 that produced 400 hp. Different variations were made including the 360 Modena, 360 Spider, Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale and 360 Challenge to name just a few.
Ferrari F430
In the current Ferrari lineup since 2004, this beautiful car starts at about $200,000 U.S. Complete with a 4.3L V8 that produces an impressive 483 hp, this is a very fast car. 0-60 mph can be achieved in just 3.5 seconds!
Ferrari Enzo
The last Ferrari I will mention here is the Ferrari Enzo. Named after the founder, the Enzo was produced between 2003 and 2004. Just 400 were ever produced and they remain on of the most expensive and sought after exotic cars in existence today. With a V12 engine that produces 651hp, this powerful car now sells for well over $1 million at exotic car auctions.
These few Ferrari's are just a small snapshot of all the impressive cars that Ferrari has built over the years. Other fine examples include the Ferrari F40, F50, Ferrari Dino, Ferrari 550 and many more.
Ferrari represents a diecast collectors dream. Whether an entire collection of Diecast Ferrari's is in your sights, or just one fine example, it's hard not to love these impressive automobiles.
